As said by Apple, 5 million pieces of iPhone 5 have been sold during the weekend, breaking its previous record of 4 million pieces of iPhone 4S.
Apple continued to sale through the market as fans lined up in front of companies highly rated stores on Friday. Everyone tried to be a part of the iPhone legacy as they eagerly snapped the latest version of this smart phone series. In spite of all this, the figures couldn’t match the expected outcome as predicted by the trade analysts, 6 million units were supposed to be the least figure after the first weekend.
This doesn’t stop iPhone 5 from ruling the market; it continues to dominate over all other smart phones. Samsung may have taken the lead in total number phones sold but the buzz and anticipation which an Apple product creates is unmatchable, it takes the excitement factor to an all time high. The profit generated by only selling iPhones is generally more than the turnover of few other companies, such is the might of Apple.

Global growth potential of iPhone 5 could still double.

iPhone 5: Success despite criticism

Apple had to face some strong criticism as the critics didn’t find mind boggling changes in this new iPhone, according to them the transformations are not ground breaking. Its major features like a wireless 4G connection and a larger screen size could have been a part of the previous installment of the iPhone series.
The mapping service by Apple turned out to be quite embarrassing as this application named Apple Maps has many flaws in it. Problems like distorted images and lack of minute details in certain locations are being faced by the users. This has made the customers long for Google Maps and they wish if it could still be intact with Apple.
These loop holes didn’t stop Apple from getting strong and positive reviews, the lack of major changes or the problems faced in using its maps hasn’t hurt its popularity level. According to Apple over 100 million devices have started using iOS 6, the latest operating system used by Apple.

All set to meet the sky

Apple couldn’t meet the expectations of Wall Street which expected a staggering mark of 10 million by the completion of the first weekend. J.P. Morgan has estimated that the company could touch the magical figure of 50 million pieces till the end of fourth quarter.
It will be very interesting to see whether the dominance of iPhone continues or not in the longer version of the race. With the competition getting tougher by each day in the smart phone arena, nothing can be taken for granted. Samsung has started targeting Apple with some ironic advertisements taking digs at iPhone while on the other hand Microsoft is also planning to launch a competitor for iPhone 5 by the name of Windows 8.
Thursday will mark the release of iPhone 5 in countries like Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Lithuania, New Zealand, Portugal, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Slovakia, Switzerland, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Belgium, Austria, Italy, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Ireland, Estonia and Slovenia.
